Apple & Microsoft

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, of Microsoft and Apple fame, respectively, shared the stage for the first time in a very long time recently at the Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital Conference. The interview is very interesting, as well as entertaining.

GaETC Presentation on RSS

As always, it's been way too long since my last podcast. This one is a little different! I am podcasting parts of presentation at the Georgia Educational Technology Conference. You'll see all my slides from my Keynote as I talk about them. I have to say, the process of going from Apple's Keynote to podcast pictures was incredibly easy. The presentation is on RSS. Many of you know a lot about it, but hopefully you'll pick up something new in this episode. To listen & watch,

Also, here's a PDF of the handout I made available to my audience.

NECC 2006

Well, it's been too long again. This podcasting stuff could be a full time job- if it paid anything ; ) This episode was done live in San Diego during NECC 2006. I have managed to blog every session so far. This will likely be my only podcast from the convention, but who knows? Please visit my main blog for links and written materials on my convention experience:

Interview from the past...

This podcast is an interview with a lifelong teacher who happens to be my wife's Grandmother. She taught elementary school in Florence, South Carolina. The interview was done as part of a requirement of a course I took in grad school around 1989 and describes what school was like for her growing up and as a teacher. It is rather long, about 30 minutes, and the quality is not the best due to the hum from the phone line. Near the end, she does talk a bit about computers and education, but only briefly. Regardless, I think you'll find her experiences enlightening. Unfortunately for all of us, she left us just last week. Eleanor Anderson, February 13, 1911 - May 10, 2006.

Catching up...

Well, it's been waaaay too long. I have been busy, just not podcasting here. I've helped others podcast, created podcasts on the other site, and built a tutorial for using GarageBand to podcast. This podcast is my first enhanced podcast for this site. Here are the links that will be referenced.

Getting it, part 2

As we said last time, there are those in education who just get it- technology is naturally integrated into learning! I follow up on the "Taradiddle" article with my response to comments from Will Richardson and Don Johnson. Also, I preview upcoming postings on the Integrated Technology Podcast.

getting it, part 1

There are those in education who get it- that is, they understand how to educate using technology. This podcast, part 1 of 2 on this topic, explores getting it and points to some of those who are discussing technology use in education.

What's a podcast?

Apologies for such a long time between posts! I've been quite busy building a web site to support my presentation at the Georgia Educational Technology Conference next week. The presentation is called "What's a podcast and what should I do about it?" It's designed to introduce podcasting, help find podcasts for use in the classroom, and assist in creating a basic podcast. Fortunately, I was able to stand on the very broad shoulders of many who came before me. Here's the link to the site.

Please enjoy the podcast!

New Podcast Announcement

As you may know, one of my responsibilities is to help schools learn about new technologies and assist them as they explore ways to integrate them. I have posted a blog and podcast for the purpose of allowing the schools I support to experiment with podcasting. You can visit the Integrated Technology Podcast to see what Dowell Elementary School is doing. Also in this podcast, I highlighted a few of the podcasts I plan to share at my upcoming presentation at the Georgia Educational Technology Conference. Here are the links for the podcast:
